The Kuwaiti Criminal Investigation Department has arrested two Nigerians for the armed robbery at the exchange office in Mahboula.
It was gathered that the suspects stole $14,918.69 during the operation.
The Ministry of Interior has confirmed the arrest of these people, and has said that the suspects and the items found will be handed over to the Public Prosecution Office for further investigation.
The Arab Times reported that the Criminal Security Sector, through the General Department of Criminal Investigations in the Ahmadi Governorate, arrested the people within 24 hours of the crime.
Meanwhile, the group left with foreign currency worth about 4,600 Kuwaiti dinars.
Investigations revealed that the group planned the extortion very carefully, and monitored money exchange offices from nearby rooftops to know when activity was peaking.
They also used stolen plates to disguise the vehicles used during the operation.
However, the police arrested another suspect in Mahboula, who admitted to managing the exchange office and alerting his partner when there were no customers.
The second suspect was arrested in the Al-Qurain Markets area.
Authorities found the stolen money and a small bag of crystal meth at his home.
