In terms of excellence, Ekiti State University (EKSU) has been recognized as the number one university in Nigeria and has secured the 12th position among more than 270 universities across the country, according to the full list published by Times Higher Education for 2025, reports said. and #TheCableIndex.
This accolade is testament to the unwavering commitment to excellence in education under the leadership of Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji.
The commitment of the Ekiti State Government to the strengthening of educational facilities is confirmed by the significant increase in funding for EKSU, rising from N260 million to N410 million. This economic growth reflects the government’s belief in education reform and its important role in promoting sustainable development.
Under the vision of the new Vice Chancellor, Professor Joseph Babatola Ayodele, a respected expert in Educational Management, EKSU has undergone remarkable transformation. He has successfully expanded the university’s accredited programs from a limited selection to a strong 91 fully accredited courses.
Popular new programs include Medical Laboratory Science, Food Science Technology, Pharmacy, Peace and Conflict Resolution, Mass Communication, Intelligence and Security Studies, International Relations, and Public Administration. This diversity not only enhances university education but also provides students with the skills necessary to succeed in today’s job market.
Also, Professor Ayodele has fostered a cooperative and collaborative relationship with the trade unions, which has been instrumental in the successful completion of this project. The emphasis on discussion and collaboration created a positive working environment, which benefited both students and teachers.
The infrastructure at EKSU has seen significant changes, with the construction of iconic buildings that expand the campus and support academic endeavors. This physical transformation complements the academic progress of the university, positioning EKSU as a leading institution in Nigeria.
As an alumnus of Ekiti State University, I am very proud of this. My time at EKSU provided me with valuable knowledge and experiences that have shaped my academic and professional journey. It is great to see the university being recognized for its quality education and progress.
