Less than 24 hours after being released from a two-month prison sentence, Nigerian musician Darlington Okoye, also known as Speed Darlington, Darlington, has spoken clearly, saying that he “went to get power.”
The rapper said this in Instagram movie he wrote on Thursday following his illegal arrest for insulting Afrobeats artist Damini Ogulu, also known as Burna Boy.
Although he was granted bail earlier, he was released on Tuesday. Darlington’s lawyer, Stanley Alieke, confirmed his release via Instagram, sharing photos of the rapper sporting a new look.
Fans eagerly await what he wrote on social media, and on Wednesday evening, shortly after his judge, Deji Adeyanju, shared a photo of the rapper at the airport, Speed Darlington wrote the words, “I’m here.”

Unlike his previous public actions against Burna Boy, Darlington’s latest post did not name him directly, referring to “a cautious prospect.”
Many have interpreted this as an attempt to be efficient and avoid further legal problems.
In about two hours, her Instagram post garnered over 233,000 views, 22,800 likes, and 7,440 comments.
Darlington’s post included three AI-generated images of goats with curved horns engaged in a head-shooting competition. These images represent territorial control, implying that retreating is a way to encourage a strong return. Supporters think this could be Darlington’s way of showing that he wants to stay in contention.
Many will also recall Darlington’s comment in 2024 where he acknowledged Burna Boy’s boxing skills, saying his approach was to “disarm” rather than fight him directly.
The latest Instagram post was accompanied by his diss song, Baby Oil, which went viral on Spotify Nigeria. Released in October 2024, the song features Burna Boy, EFCC, and American rapper Diddy. The song shows that he has survived “ground zero” and insists that a clear conscience is not afraid to accuse him.
Baby Oil was released after Darlington linked Burna Boy to Diddy, saying that Diddy influenced Burna Boy’s 2021 Grammy win. At the time, Diddy was facing an FBI investigation for rape.
No Compassion
Meanwhile, on Tuesday night, this newspaper report that Burna Boy issued a stern warning on Instagram, saying that Darlington will face pain if he does anything wrong again.
“If you make mistakes again, you will go back to where you came from!” And this time, there will be no mercy! Don’t mess with ODG (Odogwu),” Burna Boy wrote in his Instagram story.
Darlington’s legal team later claimed that Burna Boy led to the rapper’s lengthy prison sentence, saying the rapper’s involvement in the music industry was what led to his release.
History
Darlington’s arrest came as a result of online taunts and taunts after he disparaged Burna Boy’s collaboration with Diddy in October 2024. Later, he took the experience into account in his diss track, Baby Oil. In another story, Darlington offered 300 million dollars a case against the Inspector-General of Police for violating his rights. The Federal High Court in Abuja adjourned the case till January 27 after the IGP’s lawyer asked for more time to review the new evidence.
